Firefighter Recruitment Outlook For Australia 2014 – 2015

Firefighter Recruitment Outlook Australia 2014 – 2015

I go through the current outlook for each fire service in Australia and when they will be looking to recruit new firefighters.

I cover

  • FESA Firefighter Recruiting
  • MFB Recruiting
  • CFA Recruiting
  • QLDF&R Recruiting
  • NTF&R Firefighter Recruiting
  • SAMFS Recruiting
  • Western Australia Firefighter Recruiting
  • FRNSW Firefighter Recruitment
  • Tasmania Fire service recruiting

What I’m going to talk to you about today is the recruiting outlook for firefighters across each service within Australia. The first one is WA Fire Service or FESA, they’ll be looking to kick off their recruiting campaign either this month or next month, so if you’re looking to get a job as a firefighter in Western Australia, make sure you check out www.fesa.com.au.

Now even if you’re not looking to join the western Australia fire service, it might be worth going through the process to get a bit of experience with the testing as it is on line so there is no need to travel in the beginning.

The next fire service that’s likely to be recruiting is the Country Fire Authority in Victoria, along a similar time line, so I think that will be kicking off in the next couple of months as well. So if you’re in Victoria and you’re looking to join a fire service, you might have only thought of the MFB, or the Metropolitan Fire Brigade, but the Country Fire Authority also employs career firefighters so check them out at www.cfa.vic.gov.au.

The ACT Fire Service, so the Australian Capital Territory Fire Service, they’ll be looking to recruit as soon as August this year, so if you’re near the ACT or you think that might be a good one, you can go and check them out.

New South Wales Fire Service, fire and rescue New South Wales, their firefighter recruitment campaign is likely to start as early as September this year Or early next year. A little tip for the New South Wales Fire and Rescue is to follow their Twitter and also their Facebook as this will be where they’ll let you know about it and that happens automatically that way, so that’s a good way to keep up to date with the New South Wales guys.

Queensland Fire and Rescue, so they’ve currently got a cessation on, which is unfortunate, they’re working through their current applicant pool that they’ve had before that, so I wouldn’t expect anything from them until next year, but if I was in your position and you really want to join Queensland Fire and Rescue as a career firefighter, I would set an alert in my calendar or on my phone to just go and check them out every month so that when the time comes, you’ll be good to go.

Air Services Australia or ARFF, Aviation Rescue Firefighting, they will be recruiting quite soon so depending on your location and where you want to work, you can sign up for alerts from them, so make sure you get on there and check that out and sign up for the alerts.

Tasmania Fire Service, they’re just waiting to get their budget to see if they’ll have scope to employ more firefighters next year, so probably no need to check up on them until later in the year or early next year but definitely worth keeping an eye on it. That doesn’t mean that it’s worth preparing for now.

South Australian Fire Service recruitment, the SAMFS firefighter recruitment next year at the earliest so just keep an eye on their website again, and make sure you check out the date. This will give you a good opportunity to work on your skills and make sure you’re good to go when the time comes.

Northern Territory Fire Service will be next February or March, so if you’re looking to apply for the Northern Territory Fire Service to become a career firefighter, February or March next year, that’s when you want to be ready to go.

I just want to go through some tips for you now.

  1. The CFA, FESA and ARFF, they’re all going to be recruiting in the near future, so check them out and maybe fill out their processes to get some experience.
  2. Sign up for the social media pages on like New South Wales or SAMFS or whatever it is you’re looking to go through so you get those alerts straight away.
  3. Start preparing now, so that when it does come around, you’ll be good to go and that you’re going to stand out from everyone else pretty much

Hope you’ve enjoyed this, be sure to leave any comments and I’ll look forward to speaking with you soon.

Cheers,

Brent

I've been in the fire service working since 2007 to learn everything about how Fire Services Recruitment works. I've tested and refined proven methods to help people get the edge over the competition. Today, over 300 of my former students are living their Firefighter dream.
