Minimum Requirements for a New Firefighter Recruit

Training to become a firefighter is a lot of work. Would you go through it if it weren’t possible to become a firefighter because you’re missing the minimum requirements?

That would be a shame and might even kill your dream!

Australian States have similar, yet slightly different minimum requirements to be considered at all for the opportunity to take the physical, knowledge and psychological gauntlets that firefighter recruits have to sprint through. This handy chart’s information can be found on the internet, or by calling recruiters when they are available, but I’ve gone ahead and prepared all that information for you.

All firefighter recruiters do not have a residency among their minimum requirements forcing you to be living within the state, so if you aren’t able to apply for one state, you may be able to apply to another.
