ACT Fire and Rescue Recruitment 2021 Update

Brent here from Fire Recruitment Australia. Today, I’m covering ACT Fire and Rescue Recruitment 2021. It looks like ACT Fire and Rescue will be recruiting in July of 2021 which is awesome news for those of you that have been waiting to have a crack at the next ACT Firefighter Recruitment.
First Up – ACT Fire and Rescue Aptitude Exam – Example Questions at bottom
To help Members, I’m happy to announce that we have just updated practice exams for ACTFR based on their 2020 intake with testing provider – Pearson Talentlens.
The exam categories are divided into four:
- Abstract Reasoning
- Space Relations Reasoning
- Numerical Reasoning
- Verbal Reasoning
Applications are set to open sometime towards the end of July (may change). Submission of online application must include proof of minimum requirements and response to selection criteria. This usually lasts for 2 weeks. ACTFR are rumoured to need 100 positions to be filled. As to how many they are offering exactly this intake, we have yet to find out.
Testing follows immediately after the online application. The provider is still Pearson Talentlens. The exam is quite long, lasting 3-4 hours. The applicant would also be required to provide a response to the selection criteria with questions relating to work health and safety, respect, equity and diversity. Successful applicants of this stage will be able to move on to the Cardiovascular exam consist of BEEP Test with passing average of 9.6 and then an assessment centre, including a physical aptitude test (PAT), teamwork exercises, and initial interview, respectively.
There is no news on the final setup of the Interview stage — whether it’s in person or online. Regardless, due preparation must still be done if your serious about being competitive. Referees will also be contacted at this stage. Shortlisted applicants will then attend the medical exam and psychometric assessment session.
