Fire Service Interview Fundamentals
The subject I’ll be talking about today is the interview process for Fire Service Recruitment in Australia. I’m going to cover off two subjects.
- The Types Of Questions Asked
- Why these types of Questions are Asked.
The types of questions that you’re likely to get asked during the Fire Service recruitment process are behavioural based interview questions. An example of this might be when you’re asked:
Tell us about a time when you’ve been a part of a team.
The reason why they use this type of questioning is because you can provide the recruiters an idea of how you’ve behaved in the past will indicates how you’re likely to behave in the future. The most common format people use to answer these questions is known as the “S.T.A.R” technique.
S – Situation
T – Task
A – Actions
R – Result
So when answering in this format, you need to paint a picture on what the situation was, the task you were required to do, what your actions were (not anyone else) and what were the results from these actions that you took.
If you need some further examples or a more in depth explanation – you can grab a copy of my book. Another thing we offer is 1-on-1 coaching.
