In Australia this is most commonly known as aptitude testing.
It is very important in the first instance that you dont just brush this part of the process off.
Many applicants come unstuck at this very early stage of fire brigade recruitment for this very reason. Don’t underestimate the aptitude test.

There are a number of subjects covered in the aptitude tests. I will list the most common ones used in fire brigade recruitment.
If you are a fresh school leaver some of these may be familiar to you and others may not, if you have been out of the study type environment for some time these questions can seem overwhelming sometimes. but don’t disappear either way as it is often easy to improve your performance.
The following areas are those you will be tested on during aptitude assessment testing.

3. Mathematical Reasoning.

5. Spatial Reasoning or Awareness.
Sometimes you may find them listed in slightly different terminology particularly if you are looking at overseas websites or products.
