ARFF 2019 Recruitment Update

Hey firefighters!

Brent C here from firerecruitmentaustralia.com with another recruitment update for 2019.

Just when we thought 2018 is already over, we get this big news from Aviation Rescue Firefighters or ARFF! Just last night, they announced that this coming 2019, ARFF will open early February for 12 recruit positions. The foreseen locations are Broome, Cairns, Darwin, Karratha, Melbourne, Port Hedland and Sydney. However, these may still change. So let’s keep an eye out for when that comes.

ARFF is one of the most competitive fire services to get into with thousands of applicants aspiring to work at any of the 26 airports all over Australia. ARFF also offers one of the most attractive compensation packages for firefighters not to mention the perks of work-life balance. Consider that as an additional incentive as you prepare for ARFF’s recruitment. 

Here are some highlights and reminders as you start your preparations:

As stated above, the Physical Assessment Stage has 3 stages. They are as follows: 

• Stage 1: 

Simulated Ladder Raise 

• Stage 2: (must be completed in 15 minutes)
   

Single-sided 26kg jerrycan carry 

Step stair climb while holding a 17.5kg jerrycan 

Rescue tool static hold featuring three 40 second holds 

Three 30-meter simulated hose drags 

• Stage 3: (must be completed in 2 minutes right after Stage 2) 

Successful applicants will resume to have a 15-week Intensive Training at the Melbourne Training Center prior to placement at the candidate’s assigned fire station.
