Firefighter Recruitment 2016 – Australia Wide Outlook

Hi Guys,

As there is a great deal of activity in firefighter recruitment 2016 happening, I thought it would be best to give a more complete update.

MFB Firefighter Recruitment 2016 – It looks as though the MFB will start recruiting firefighters in Victoria very shortly.

I am including a link to an article in the Age that states they will be recruiting almost immediately, the article is about diversity in the fire service but mentions recruitment so this is good news. It does mean a great opportunity for those applying from more diverse backgrounds as well as female applicants, I think this will make it more competitive than usual as the applicant pool will be looked at in a slightly different manner than it has been before.

CFA Firefighter Recruitment 2016 – It seems that the CFA – Country Fire Authority will be opening up recruitment in March to continue their large firefighter recruitment campaign. I feel the same opportunity and challenge applies to CFA as I have mentioned above with the MFB. All the same this service in particular is providing what I see as the biggest opportunity ever seen in firefighter recruitment due to the sheer numbers they need to recruit and the timeframe in which they are doing it.

ACT Firefighter Recruitment 2016 – kicking off February  1st 2016, This is a massive opportunity for all aspiring firefighters, particularly those who had ACT number one on their list. Also known as ACT ESA

SAMFS Firefighter Recruitment 2016 – It seems as though SA will run a squad in around February from the existing pool and from what I have heard may recruit later in the year depending on operational requirements, retirements & demand.

DFES Firefighter Recruitment 2016 – No news at this stage

Air Services Firefighter Recruitment 2016 – From their website, “We expect to advertise our next intake in 2016 or 2017. We have no further information to provide future applicants at present. Also known as ARFF Firefighter Recruitment 2016

QLDF&R Firefighter Recruitment 2016 – Also known as Queensland Fire and Emergency Service or QFES. Currently processing applications from 2016 – Closed for new applications.

Fire and Rescue NSW Firefighter Recruitment 2016 – Application dates for 2016 are yet to be established, this is a good indication there will be recruitment this year which is great news.

Tasmania Fire Service Firefighter Recruitment 2016 – No information available at this stage, I have heard they will be running a campaign this year though.

NT Fire & Rescue Firefighter Recruitment 2016 – PFES looks as though they will start a firefighter recruitment campaign in mid 2016.

I think looking at all the services around the country at this point in time you will notice a few things.

1. There is a fair bit of activity in recruitment at the moment providing great opportunity to those that are prepared, hungry and dedicated.

2. Diversity in recruitment is a major topic for firefighter recruitment in 2016 for Australia

3. With this amount of recruiting going on the opportunity as it is now will not last for ever in all areas.
