Hello firefighters!

It’s me again, Brent C, from firerecruitmentaustralia.com. As we prepare for the coming year, it gives me great pleasure to share that the Tasmania Fire Service or TFS are finally opening its doors for recruitment after quite some time.

What makes this intake special is that aside from they’ll be hiring for 24 positions after a while that we haven’t heard from them, ‘come and try’ days will also be available to 240 people at 30 pax per session. So be sure to enlist for it as soon as you can. Tryouts will be conducted in their Cambridge facility. This will be a great opportunity for you to learn firsthand the exercises to be conducted by TFS and also to be able to interview the current firefighters and learn more about the institution you’re aiming to join. Two weekends in January will be dedicated for the come and try days. Again, be sure to enlist.

Also, it seems they haven’t finalized the order of the application process yet. However, if it’s going to be similar as their last one, the order will be as follows:

  1. Written application
  2. Written selection
  3. Physical fitness assessment (shuttle run)
  4. Aptitude test
  5. Physical abilities and psychological assessment
  6. Shortlisting
  7. Interviews
  8. Referee reports
  9. Medical assessment and pre-employment checks

Lastly, TFS has a new website. Be sure to check it out and use it as a source of information to learn more about the organization in time for the application. That being said, it is equally important that you have a fire-fit resume and cover letter for when recruitment starts.

I believe this is truly the last recruitment announcement I’ll be making for 2018. I am so excited for all of you this 2019. It seems all fire services in Australia are going to be busy this coming year too! That means more opportunities for those of you who are either looking to gain experience in firefighting recruitment or those who are opting to try for multiple fire services.
